In just two weeks, the world’s biggest design fair Milan Design Week kicks off. Held from 17-22 April, Salone del Mobile sees more than 2,000 exhibitors present news at the Rho Fiera fairgrounds and more than 1,500 installations and exhibitions held in various districts around the city.

Salone del Mobile

The story began in 1961, when a small group of furniture makers decided to launch a trade fair free from confusion and misunderstanding. Since then, Salone del Mobile has grown into the world’s leading design event – a system of connections, creativity and innovation. Within the space of a week, more than 300,000+ people converge on Milan: entrepreneurs, journalists, collectors, intellectuals, critics, designers, architects, creatives, purveyors of knowledge and nurturers of beauty.

In the words of the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, “The Salone del Mobile is a distinctive Milanese brand. Much more than just a furniture exhibition, the Salone is an international event, a laboratory for experimentation and research, a meeting place and a showcase for new businesses – an unmissable appointment for designers and architects, who present, study and set trends here every year, with an increasing focus on sustainability.”
