After graduating from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2003, Harlou started her successful career at the Copenhagen-based 3XN Architects, and in 2006 she opened her own studio. Harlou sees architecture and design as both handcraft and art, which gives an organic and imaginative undertone for her work. Still, her designs often settle in clear and functional forms. Thanks to their recognizable style, Harlou’s architectural projects have drawn a lot of attention, and since 2014 she has also contributed to the Scandinavian design world with her furniture and product designs.

Designed at Mater design studio, Earth Studio, by architect and designer Eva Harlou, Earth Stool is a reinvention of the classic bar stool.
