Playful asymmetric
and organic shapes
The Danish design duo Ernst & Jensen have played with the assymetrical in their Insula collection.
With its organic design, the Insula pouf is a beautiful extension of the iconic Insula series, which saw the light of day as a table collection back in 2009.
The natural, asymmetric rock-like shape turns the pouf into a sculptured supplement in every room. The fully upholstered pouf provides both a softness and a warmth to the room and is, at the same time, a perfect extra seat or footstool.
The sculptured pouf is both suitable in the private and the public space, with its beautiful combination of asymmetry and organic expression. By placing two, three or more poufs together, a small island is created. The Insula Pouf is available in two sizes.
With their joint work in recent years, Anne-Mette Jensen (1969) and Morten Ernst (1964) have manifested themselves as exponents of contemporary Danish design. The duo’s collaboration dates back to their time as students at the School of Architecture, where they won Erik Jørgensen’s talent competition for the day bed Waves. Most recently, the duo has drawn international attention with the sofa series In Duplo, which won Wallpaper’s Design Prize in 2011. Other neo-classic designs by the duo for Erik Jørgensen include the table series Insula, the bench EJ 144 and the easy chair Ginko.
