The design duo Ernst & Jensen has added a new feature to their popular Insula collection. Three beautiful and organically shaped shelves. The new addition is called Insula Walls and are the designer’s first home accessories.
The shelves organic design is a beautiful contrast to the vertical walls, and creates an interesting expression where the almost appear to be somewhat crocket. A recognizable feature from the Insula table collection is the asymmetric bearing that adds an interesting visual element to Insula Wall, a detail that becomes the connection element throughout the Insula collection.
The shelves are designed in three different sizes. The smallest one is only available in steel, whereas the medium size shelf is available in two editions; painted aluminium and solid wood. The medium shelf can be made as a plan shelf with a differentiated edge that emphasizes the shelf’s dynamic form language. The third and largest shelf can serve as a shelf as well as a smaller workplace – a very elegant solution to the work desk.
The different Insula Wall sizes can easily be combined. This will create interesting compositions that be both up- and down-sized in order to fit into your home or office.
With their joint work in recent years, the Danish design duo of Anne-Mette Jensen (1969) and Morten Ernst (1964) have manifested themselves as exponents of contemporary Danish design.
The duo’s collaboration dates back to their time as students at the School of Architecture in Copenhagen. Here they were both educated as architects in, respectively, 1997 and 1998.
