The stylistic purity of the Hard Dress chair by Piero Lissoni invites multiple interpretations. For a more solemn and discrete version, with or without armrests, the piece can be upholstered with a removable cover with a traditional inverted pleat, in a selection of the fabrics from the collection.
The design takes on a fashionable edge for the Hard Dress Zip, a chair with a leather jacket: the iconic zipper was inspired by the famous “Perfecto” jacket from the roaring ‘80s rocker style. For this chair, with leather upholstery, Lissoni successfully gave a bold new form of expression to the seat, highlighting the geometric silhouette with a prominent double zipper that is both decorative and functional, enabling the removal of the cover.
Italian Piero Lissoni is a designer and architect with a degree from the Polytechnico of Milan. In 1986 Lissoni founded the Studio Lissoni. Since then Piero Lissoni has worked with a dense list of design brands, such as Boffi, Cassina, Kartell, Living Divani and Flos on a wide diversity of designs of furniture and lighting.
Lissonis's projects are often total designs, i.e. full-scale interiors and architecture of hotels, offices and showrooms, yachts and private homes. He's inspired by many different elements but also designers such as Danish Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjærholm.
Piero Lissoni's design principle is never to design for a specific function or purpose - but to design for human beings.
