CULT x TSAR | Bespoke by Design Competition
CULT Design and TSAR Carpets proudly present Bespoke by Design, a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and the transformative power of design.
This competition invites Australian creatives to reimagine the role of rugs in contemporary interiors. More than just floor coverings, rugs have the power to define space, spark emotion and transform the way we experience a room.
Entrants are invited to design a one-of-a-kind rug, valued at $10,700, with the winning concept selected by Richard Munao, CULT Founder & CEO and Ross Cleland, TSAR Carpets Design Director. The chosen design will be handcrafted by TSAR’s expert makers, a rare opportunity to see your creative vision brought to life with the backing of two design leaders.
The Brief
Design a rug that tells a story. Whether bold, subtle or somewhere in between, explore texture, pattern and colour to create a piece that transforms a space and sparks conversation.
Entry Requirements
The competition is open to all Australian residents, with delivery included for metropolitan areas nationwide.
Entrants may submit multiple designs, provided they meet the following criteria:
Shape & Size
- Rectangular (max. 2000W x 3000H mm)
- Round (max. 2500mm dia)
- Organic shapes are also welcome within these dimensions.
Colour & Texture
- Up to 6 colours per design
- Up to 3 heights (8mm, 10mm, or 12mm)
Material & Construction
- 100% New Zealand wool
- Hand-tufted with cut and loop pile
Designs can be created digitally or by hand, and must be submitted using the official Submission Template.
How to Enter
All entries must be submitted as a PDF using the provided template, clearly indicating all colours and pile heights.

Winner Announced: Monday 9 February 2026
Production of the winning design will commence in February 2026, with an estimated lead time of 16–18 weeks.
Terms & Conditions
1. Eligibility
Employees, contractors, and direct affiliates of Tsar Carpets & Cult Design are not eligible to enter.
2. Delivery
Prize delivery is included for metropolitan areas across Australia only. For winners located in rural areas, we’ll work with you to arrange the best delivery option.
3. Entry Requirements
All entries must be original works created solely by the entrant. Submissions must not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights. Any entry found to be plagiarized or previously published will be disqualified.
4. Selection of Winner
The winning design will be selected by Cult Design & Tsar Carpets at their sole discretion. The decision of the judges is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
5. Prizes
Details of the prize manufacturing process will be communicated directly with the winner after 9 February 2026. Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. No cash alternative will be offered. Lead times for the winning design are approximately 16-18 weeks from final order approval.
6. Winning Design
The winning rug will be produced as a one-of-a-kind piece for the winner only. It will not be added to our design library, reproduced, or made available for sale, and no commissions or royalties will apply.
7. Liability
Cult Design & Tsar Carpets accept no responsibility for entries lost, delayed, corrupted, or otherwise not received. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cult Design & Tsar Carpets shall not be liable for any damages, loss, or injury arising from participation in this competition or use of the winning design.
8. General
Tsar Carpets reserves the right to amend, suspend, or cancel the competition at any time without prior notice. Participation in the competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
