EVENT GALLERY. KEEP: Forever Objects in American Hardwoods
On Wednesday, 17 September, our Cult Sydney showroom was transformed into a hub of design, conversation, and celebration for the launch of KEEP: Forever Objects in American Hardwoods, presented in partnership with the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC). The exhibition marks a rare and exciting moment where six of Australia’s most acclaimed architects turned their talents to the scale of furniture, creating enduring objects that explore permanence, material honesty, and craftsmanship in an era of disposability.
The opening night brought together over 150 architects, designers, and industry leaders, all eager to be among the first to experience the collection in person. Guests mingled amongst the works, discussing form, materiality, and process while enjoying thoughtful catering by Rashish Events. Beautifully captured by photographer Tim Robinson, who documented the evening’s conversations and connections against the backdrop of our Chippendale showroom.

Curated by David Clark and presented by AHEC, KEEP brings together six of Australia’s leading architects - Kennedy Nolan, Virginia Kerridge, Lineburg Wang, Richards Stanisich with Meg Ashforth, Edition Office, and Neil Durbach - in a rare exploration of furniture design.
Working with sustainable American red oak, cherry, and maple, each has created a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects permanence, craftsmanship, and the enduring value of natural materials. From sculptural consoles and refined tables to experimental lighting and playful forms, the collection offers six distinct interpretations of how objects can hold meaning and memory.
As Rod Wiles, Regional Director of AHEC, notes:
“KEEP is a reminder that the things we choose to live with can carry meaning and memory. These works are made to endure, not just in use, but in the stories they can hold.”
KEEP is now open to the public at Cult Sydney until 4 October 2025.
