After years of redevelopment, with the objective of recreating HAY's iconic About A Collection from a more sustainable perspective, the About A AA-ECO range is now made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic (a material derived from household waste, like televisions and washing machines).
Perhaps the most functional chair of the series, the About A Chair AAC52 features a five-legged castor base equipped with a semi-automatic gas lift that can adjust the seat height from 42 to 56 cm. Just like the rest of the series, the aluminium base can be combined with the original, open seat or rounded shell to make the look as formal or relaxed as you like. A wide choice of colours and fabrics give you further options to adapt the chair to whatever environment you need.

Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. Welling has received a number of design awards, including the Bo Bedre Award (Denmark), Good Design Award (USA) and has been nominated as the Danish designer of the year in both 2013 and 2014. Welling is the son of a cabinetmaker, and his fascination with production techniques, materials and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (where he is also now a design tutor). His design ethos is centred around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience. His work is characterised by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant looks. For HAY, Welling has designed the About A series and the Hee Chair, Lounge Chair and Bar Stool.
