Erik Jørgensen was educated upholsterer and founded, in 1954, a small workshop, where his expertise in upholstering furniture was clear.
During the 1970s, he designed the EJ 220, which later became one of the foundations in the collection at Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik, as well as becoming the archetype for the classic Danish box sofa. The sofa has become synonymous with good craft and classic Danish design.
The idea behind the design was that the sofa should have great comfort, while being aesthetically and simply in its expression. The sofa is available with and without buttons in the backseat, in the same leather or textile as the sofa or in another contrast color. It is also possible to vary the appearance in the form of different side pads, either via a cushion or further square pillows.
