Merete Erbou Laurent

Merete Erbou Laurent is a Danish textile designer who set up her own studio in the early 1970s. She originally trained as a weaver at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen, and later went on to study spatial design at the Aarhus School of Architecture. Her work has been widely exhibited and she is known for her innovative use of paper yarn and colour, as well as her twenty year stint as editor of Kunstuff, the Danish Arts and Crafts Association’s magazine. Her work is informed by the landscape where she lives and works, and her process is one that incorporates both hand skills and a high degree of technical planning. For Hay, she has created the Two Ways rug.
