Born in Cagliari in 1953, Ann Deplano is based in Milan. She studied at the Design Polytechnic and the Brera Fine Arts Academy. She's a consultant for a host of firms, handling chiefly avant-garde research in the fields of design and corporate image. Her interest focuses on color, decorations and their applications in housewares, lighting, upholstered furniture and fabrics.
Moreover, she's attracted by craftwork experimentation harking back to Sardinian tradition. Plaiting is another theme she has taken up, by examining Sardinian tradition. Deplano has reworked basket-making and found novel applications in the furniture industry. She has taught at the European Design Institute and the Milan New Fine Arts Academy. The artist organized and participated in numerous design and craft exhibits. She has been working for Zanotta since 1998.
