We are delighted to announce the 2022 edition of The Chairity Project raised just over AUD$30,000 for five selected charities including Red Cross, Gunawirra, Cancer Council, St Vincent de Paul and Greening Australia. Thank you to everyone who placed a bid, made a donation and joined us at the exhibitions in Sydney and Melbourne, we are so grateful for your support and generosity!
Here we share a gallery from last week's Sydney event, which saw over 200 members of the design industry gather at our new HAY store in Darlinghurst to celebrate the Chairity Sydney exhibition.
The 2022 edition of Cult's esteemed fundraising event, The Chairity Project, sees 18 leading Australian creatives from a cross-section of design disciplines reimagine the Result chair for charity. First designed in the 1950's by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld for Ahrend, and now produced by HAY, the Result chair is an enduring design classic.
Following a successful launch in Melbourne, the Chairity exhibition travelled to Sydney and popped up at our new HAY shop from 28 March - 3 April, 2022.
The Chairity Project 2022 sees 18 leading creatives from a cross section of architecture, ceramics, art, interiors, fashion, scent and industrial design reimagine the Result chair for charity. See all participating creatives here.
Exhibition visitors were also able to preview our new HAY shop which has now opened fully for regular trading. Open daily from 10-6 on weekdays and 10-5 on weekends at 255 Crown Street, Darlinghurst, 2010.
At the Sydney event we were delighted to welcome over 200 people from the design community, including special guest Joerg Esslinger from HAY, along with many of the creatives and charities participating in the 2022 edition of The Chairity Project.
Guests enjoyed a selection of natural wine and pet nat from Borachio Wine, margarita seltzers from OK Cantina! and delicious non-alcoholic refreshments from StrangeLove.
The event was catered by Fed Kitchen who provided a spectacular grazing table with large blocks of artisanal cheese, quince, cured meats, grapes, honeycomb, dates, sourdough bread wheels with salted cultured butter, seasonal vegetables crudites and much more. Guests also enjoyed whole sides of hot smoked salmon with pickles, caper berries, dill, cucumber ribbons and pumpernickel bread.
Thank you to our event beverage partners Borachio Wine, Cantina OK! and StrangeLove.
All 18 works were available to buy via online auction, and over AUD $30,000 was raised for and shared equally between five charities, ranging from cancer research to homelessness to environmental initiatives including
Cancer Council, Red Cross, St Vincent De Paul, Greening Australia and Gunawirra.
These charities are close to our hearts at Cult and were chosen as a result of internal and external circumstances that have emerged over the past two years.
